Cycle or walk in the countryside on beautiful lanes, shaded by the old trees that line both sides. Walk through the birch forest, past the old castle, to arrive at the majestic rolling dunes that lead back to the golden beaches. Cool down with a dip in the fresh water. There is so much to discover in the municipality of Veere, and the best way to do it is by bike or on foot.
Oranjezon is a vital area for dune plants and animals. Walking around in this former water catchment area, you stand a pretty good chance of stumbling across a roe deer or a stag.
The occasional glimpses of the sea while walking through the forest will make for some lovely pictures. This area is specifically for hikers, so bicycles are not welcome and neither are dogs, to protect the wildlife. The entrance fee is €1 per person, well worth it if you ask us.

What do you get when you let a forest do its thing? A stunning area like the Manteling. You will find this forest nestled in between Domburg and Oostkapelle. People come here all year round to enjoy a walk or bike ride. The narrow forest paths leading to a beautiful stretch of dune landscape will have you wandering around here for hours. At Kasteel Westhove on the edge of the forest, you can grab a bite to eat and a drink during your visit.

Stroll along the creeks through the old forest just outside the town of Veere. You will find fallow deer, rabbits and many other species here. The forest has fun suspension bridges and other ways to cross the water. And if the temperatures dip below zero in winter, the ice skating is perfect here! If you like camping in the wild, the nature campsite of the Veerse Bos is a must.

The nature reserve of the Westkapelle Creek, formed by the breach of the Zeedijk (Seawall), is the perfect place to relax in nature. The creek is surrounded by forests and is close to the beach. From the Seawall, you have a magnificent view where you can already spot the tall lighthouse 'Hoge Licht' from afar. The area offers beautiful hiking and horse riding trails that take you through the breathtaking landscape.
